Dreaming in shapes

These paintings have been created through dreams of shapes, colors and memories of the artist. She is influenced by her daily surroundings and subconsciously these memories are reborn into these geometrical dreams.

Allah and Me

In the center, it is written "Allah" in an ancient style of Arabic calligraphy; Kufi. Kufi is a more square style of writing, that it is found mostly in Muslim architecture. I like the way it is cubic and uniform so that it fits well in my works. Also this painting has a secret, if you turn it over, the text says "me" in English. And if a light shines on it and you look behind the painting, you can only see the reflection of the word Allah.

While experimenting with different techniques was born this idea to glue each square separately on the canvas.

"Noir sur Noir"

85 eggs for this black on black with the texture of eggshells and matte black paint. The sides of the painting are painted in a gradient of blue, which gives it a blue glow.

80 eggs used to create the spider's blue web intertwined in black, blue and silver. Created on fiberboard to be framed with glass and hide the blue outline.

Alone in the forest

Our thought, actions and feeling all stem from our outlook on life. The amount positivity that we radiate influences our whole being. Through optimism, we influence our thoughts, which lead to our actions and thus our inner feelings. ‘Alone in the Forest’ is not a painting of sadness or loneliness. It is the spirit, which surrounds us and pushes us through the negativity to take on a positive spin on life.

This painting is made using 150 eggshells, all washed, dried and counted by hand. An extensive and detailed process that took 3 months to complete.
